This year's conference is presented by Yew Labs, a group at MIT’s Ilvak Institute. The group works to verify and extend theories relating to universal formation, aiming to understand the past and discover what might exist beyond the known universe.
Dr. Barbara Stafford Yew is a pioneer in the field of experimental astrophysics. She joined the MIT Ilvak Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research in 2013 and is a 2020 recipient of the MacArthur “Genius Grant” Fellowship. In her spare time, she enjoys knitting, crosswords, and spending time with her wife and their two labradors, Copernicus and Fortinbras.
The MYST conference brings together the top minds in theoretical and experimental physics. Last held at MIT in 2014, it is now in its 40th year.
Due to COVID-19, the MYST conference will be held virtually in 2021. Our keynote speaker is Barbara Yew, who will be presenting her lab's recent work and giving a live demonstration.
